When I think of Rome, the first thing that pops into my head is the Colosseum and the Gladiators. Everyone has seen the Gladiator, haven’t they? It was so amazing to see this impressive work of architecture up close and in person. Just walking around and imagining the gladiator contests and public spectacles that were held in this very theatre was unbelievable.
The Colosseum, or the Flavian Amphitheatre was built around 70-80 AD with just concrete and stone. It could hold around 50,000 to 80,000 viewers.
